Korean singer BoA has been featured for an interview on ‘The Hollywood Reporter (THR)’ site.

THR had an interview during the listening party held on 3rd for BoA’s upcoming 1st American album.

THR wrote in a post ‘BoA Invades America’ on their site, “Korea’s pop sensation BoA has released a new album to advance into the American market. BoA, who has sold over 20 million albums, is already a successful singer in Asia… THR identifies BoA as next global pop wonder to watch.”

They described in the interview, “BoA’s 1st American album ‘BoA‘ includes dance songs that are fresh, all the result her hardwork. It is the kind of music that is club music, but also music that can be enjoyed on the radio and as a performnance. This is the music for the American market.”

[News] BoA to Perform in U.S. Along With Rain and Se7en

BoA is postponing her debut as an actress because of her U.S. debut.

Singer BoA (23, real name Kwon Bo-a) says she is looking forward to performing in the U.S. along with Rain and Se7en, because--despite their different music styles--the three of them can cause a bigger stir in the U.S. pop market together rather than individually.

This year, several K-pop artists including BoA, Rain (27, real name Chung Ji-hoon) and Se7en (25, real name Choi Dong-wook) will establish their presence in the U.S.

BoA released her U.S. debut single album "Eat You Up" in October last year and is to release her first studio album targeting the U.S. market early this year. Rain, for his part, will debut in Hollywood in July-August in the movie "Ninja Assassin" and will release his "worldwide album" in August.

Se7en, who last year announced the song "Girls" by famous American producer Dark Child, will launch promotional activities in the U.S. in February along with Lil' Kim, who is featured in the song, and will release his studio album early this year.

In a recent interview, BoA said she looks forward to this "goodwill competition" with other K-pop artists in a foreign market. "I hope we'll all meet up in the U.S., because we're going to feel very lonely. I know Se7en personally and we've been keeping in touch while he's been staying in Los Angeles. He tells me about his life in the U.S. and how he's learning English", said BoA.

She also added that she prefers to maintain close relations with a small group of people rather than with many people and that she will need good friends in the U.S. more than ever.

In the interview, BoA also mentioned her long-scheduled debut as an actress. "I've postponed my acting plans for a while because my U.S. debut is a priority at this point. In fact, I've received an offer from Hollywood as well as from Korea and Japan. If I'm made an offer to appear in a really good production, I'll try my hand at acting", said the singer.

BoA says she is happy to see her junior colleagues like TVXQ, Girls' Generation and SHINee growing up as artists. They are all managed by the same agency, SM Entertainment.

"Singers don't have much opportunity to meet other apprentice singers after their debut. I learned about TVXQ only after the band's debut. I like it a lot. I'm the same age as a lot of the TVXQ and Super Junior members. One of the Super Junior members is even older than me. That's why I jokingly call him 'Super Adult'. The Girls' Generation members are very pretty, while the SHINee members are like my little brothers. The youngest one, Tae-min, is seven years my junior", said BoA.

BoA said for the past six years she has spent December 31 in the waiting room of the Japanese broadcaster NHK, because she has appeared in NHK's Kouhaku Singing Festival every year. The singer added that she was happy to see TVXQ participate in the festival last year.

The 5 goals were: 1) Meet Michael Jackson. 2) Have sex with Michael Jackson at Never Land Ranch. 3) Have fun with ladyboys in Thailand. 4) Beat TVXQ in a fight and 5) Grow some hair on their balls. #1. Jonghyun debuting as a Song Writer

"My dream is to become a singer & song writer. So I'm into writing lyrics these days. I write things while listening to music in the rest room. I am writing right now and if i can have it on our album i would be very happy. I get my inspiration from music and my daily life. And the listener's stories i get from the radio is good too. I also go online too." (Jonghyun)

#2. Topping International Charts

"We want to get 1st place in Thailand, China and other Asian Charts. Like DBSK. (laughs) We will follow in their footsteps. The sunbae-nims did a very good job so i think that's why we are getting good results. The members to do speak a little bit of Chinese but we have to work harder. " (Key)

#3. 2nd album being a hit

"We will be active in 2009 too. (laughs) Our 2nd album will come out too, won't it? I hope that album does well. Preorders of 300,000 copies? (laughs) Ah that is DBSK sunbaenim's record. Then for us 200,000 copies! To tell the truth our albums sold a little over 100,000 copies this year. Our goal is to get twice that amount! "(Onew)

#4. Get 14 CF Contracts

#5. Getting Awards at 3 Awards Ceremony

"Popularity Award, Digital Music Award....what else is there? Its getting more awards at each awards ceremony. (laughs) Ah! After getting the awards i want to go on a trip with the members. We haven't gone anywhere together except for work related stuff. I want to do a barbecue party too. I want to go to the states and buy BoA sunbaenim's CD too. (laughs)" (Minho)

[News] BoA speaks on her US Debut

BoA spoke about her US Debut on the January 3rd episode of KBS 2TV's "Entertainment Relay (연예가중계)." And it seems the pop princess is enjoying her new found challenge.

BoA stated:

"There was a time when I kept thinking, why do people expect so much from me? Who was I doing this all for? Gradually my singing career was becoming less enjoyable.

I started wondering what I would enjoy doing, and that's when talks about my US debut started happening. This new found challenged has actually revitalized me and my happiness.

When I first debuted in my teens, everything was so hectic and busy, that I had no time to even think about anything. However, moving forward I want to take things nice and slow, so that I can look back on myself. I want to enjoy it this time around, but also work extremely hard to succeed."

BoA's full us album will be released in March of 2009.
